More playlists? and Synch?

I'm a new user from Canada, near Ottwawa.

I have a couple of questions I hope you can help with please:
1. Are there additional playlists available besides the basic ones offered on the home page?
2. If I download a song or playlist on my desktop, will it become available on my iPhone?

The main playlists are not intended to be in any way inclusive or comprehensive. They are provided only as a convenient way for new users to quickly add some content to their app's library.
