Thread: Enharmonic Transposition

    Default Enharmonic Transposition

    Okay, here's the deal (and I'm using iRealb …)
    I sometimes play with a jazz group that plays "Angel Eyes", but not in the default key of C minor. They put it up to D minor—no problem.
    In measures 7 & 8 of the bridge (B section on the chart) the default changes are || C#m7 / F#m7 / | Dm7 / G7 / ||, but when I transpose to D minor I get || Ebm7 / G#m7 / | Em7 / A7 / || —very annoying!
    I've tried using the alternative chord function, to no avail …
    I don't care if it's || D#m7 / G#m7 / | Em7 / A7 / || or || Ebm7 / Abm7 / | Em7 / A7 / ||, I would just like it to be consistent!!!!

    Any suggestions? Apart from memorizing the changes, but seems dopey for just one group.
    Yes, I know we should be able to play every tune in all twelve keys!

    Default

    The easiest fix is edit a duplicate, set AND transpose to your preferred key. Then edit the enharmonic chords as desired.

    Add a "code" to the title (your group’s initials) then save.

    Automatic transposition is complex.
    Search "enharmonic" for multiple disussion threads.

    Default Enharmonics

    IReal should consider the key of the song: if you transpose to F# it means that all the chords should be notated as #! Chords with flats don't exist in F#. The enharmonic problem would be solved this way...
