"Georgy Girl" was composed by Tom Springfield with lyrics by Jim Dale as the title song for the 1966 movie of the same name. It is a pleasant light-rock tune in 32-bar AABA form. It was a hit for the Austrailian folk-rock groop The Seekers in 1966; look for their performance on YouTube. There's even a Lawrence Welk performance there, complete with electronic harpsichord and accordion (I'm not kidding); in Lawrence's words: "A nice piece…a good rhythm tune." It is one of the genre of pop-rock '60s tunes (eg: "Downtown," "I Know A Place," "I'll Never Find Another You") that was popular at that time.
Although it is a rock tune, I use the Jazz - Bossa Nova style at 115 bpm in performance, as I like the way the drums sound for light rock.
