PLEASE !!!
I'm visually impaired bassist. Your app on an iPad has changed my life! No kidding. I can read changes easily for the first time in many years. Not to mention the huge collection of charts I now carry in my slim, trim device.
So, I am deeply grateful for this wonderful bit of technology!
Now, I want to weigh in on the need for a footswitch.
Even when using a list of 1-page charts, we often play "medleys" of 3 or more songs. This requires turning pages both forward and backward to play the arrangement. More generally, I use iRb to write arrangements of single songs that need two pages. In many cases an intro or segue that appears early in the chart (I.e., on the first page) wile be jumped to from the second page. These are just two examples of why/how page turning in the middle of a performance is unavoidable and frequent for a working jazz musician such as I. It's often a challenge to make the page turns and keep the flow of a performance, especially when using a bow on my bass.
So, I would see the addition of a foots with as a great leap forward.
ADMIN EDIT, THIS POST MOVED TO HERE
iRb is one of the most useful apps for musicians that has been developed to date!
However, as a working pro jazz player, it is completely that iRb's practical value would be greatly magnified if it could be controlled by a footswitch such as the Airturn BT-105.
At the least, Hands free control of page would be of enormous value.
I play a number of latin charts, for example, that are more than one page i can't afford to take my hand off of my instrument to "swipe" a new page Even when using a list of 1-page charts, we often play "medleys" of 3 or more songs. This requires turning pages both forward and backward to play the arrangement. More generally, I use iRb to write arrangements of single songs that need two pages. In many cases an intro or segue that appears early in the chart (I.e., on the first page) wile be jumped to from the second page. I don't think these needs are uniquely mine. Page turning has interfered with musicians since they began using written notation.
I hope the iRb developers will address this need very soon.
implemented in iOS v4.6 (and above):
play, stop, previous song, next song (programmable) (see below)
(not available for Android as at August 2013)

Using Airturn BT-105 (two pedals) iReal b's default settings will work:
Pedal 1 (left) - Back (previous song)
Pedal 3 (right) - Next (next song)
If you use a playlist live with the player, you might set it to:
Pedal 1 (left) - Play
Pedal 3 (right) - Next
(The left pedal toggles between play and pause—useful for teaching perhaps, the right pedal is inactive during playback.)
You can also add an additional two pedals for a total of four if needed (see their website for more information.)
--- NEW 2013 ---
Digit and Digit II are bluetooth hand-held controllers similar to their BT-105 foot pedal system.
Digit has six membrane buttons and two ports for plugging in up to four foot pedals if needed.
Digit II is smaller and can easily attach to your key ring. It has five buttons, no pedal ports.
Like the BT-105, they have different operating modes—their default mode 3 works with iReal b. (Other functions include iTunes mode, camera functioning, activating Siri on iOS devices, presentation modes.)
Digit
within iReal b, Settings>Airturn you might find changing the settings to these works better for you:
Pedal 1 - Stop (up)
Pedal 2 - Back (left)
Pedal 3 - Play (down)
Pedal 4 - Next (right)
(Digit II settings might be slightly different)
I've just got an airturn pedal and it's great. Will there be more implementation of other functions and their assignments to the pedal in the future?
Two uses i myself would love to see would be:
1. The ability to assign one of the buttons to do the same function as the "playlist" button that takes you back to the song list when in a chart for example. Sometimes the bands I play with mix it up and change sets on the fly, so having one button to go forward a page/song and one to go back to that list would be great.
2. The ability to assign one button to jump straigt to one of the 4 main functions (songs/composers/styles/playlists) would also be handy.
Glad you are finding it useful. There are no plans at the moment for any changes in the next update.
You would still have to navigate to the new playlist and song, so you would only be saving time on a couple of quick taps.
If you have an ipad, you might find it useful to use it in landscape so at least the current playlist is visible all the time. I prefer this when using a playlist containing all the band's charts (and not in a set order.)
Thanks for your thoughts on this. We will keep it in mind.
Any AirTurn (or Page flip/Cicada) support planned for Android?
You can access irp's AirTurn functions with most any Bluetooth keyboard that will pair with your iOS device.
The left/right/up/down cursor buttons activate page-forward, page-back, and player start/stop.
:))BOB
I would imagine a page turning functionality for the Apple Watch. That would be cool.
Bluetooth settings in iRp list four pedals, which can be set to do start stop page back and forth. No AirT ped has 4 pedals that both turns pages and start and stop play. I got the AirT Quad thinking it would work but it does not. Since AirTurn is the only recommended producer of pedals could iReal and AirTurn please get together and fully implement 4 to 6 six options we would need such as start, stop , next song, prep song, vol up, vol down? Actually, iRp need only pick a 'Mode' already existing for the quad and use those signals for the functions. As it is now with the quad you can turn pages or start/pause but not both. Doesn't seem a difficult change to make.
Airturn themselves provide code to work with their products. We have a small update from them which will be included in the next minor update (v8.0.2) due out hopefully in the next few weeks.
However the Quad has been out for a while. It is similar in operation to their other products. We have tested BT-105 (original), PED (original) and Digit-BT-105. With Digit we have all four functions you require (play, stop, previous and next page) mapping to the four options (arrows) showing in the Airturn window. It works without problems. Actually we were able to use both the BT-105 and PED at the same time, one set for previous and next page, the other for player stop, play.
Choosing from the different modes on our Digit, and presumably on your Quad, we use mode 3 (it's default mode) for up arrow, down arrow, left arrow and right arrow (according to the Quad manual it's the same, the default Tablet mode 3, pages 8–10.) Don't use a mode having page up and page down.
Unfortunately there is no volume up/down available in iReal Pro using Airturn devices, only the main four functions—previous, next, play, stop.
Are you sure you are using the correct mode?
Thanks.
Well, I was just about to give up, but you made me look at the manual 1 more time and I found the notice in RED that you must 'reset the pairing' of you change devices like Ped to BT-105. In the process of trying outsettings I neglected that step, figuring if you disconnect turn off Bluetooth, or turn off AirTurn in iRp it would suffice. That's what happens when you assume. My modes and otherwise we're fine. Thought I was getting' too old and 'losing it' cause I'm no strange to computers, programming etc having taught comp. ed. For 25 yrs. thanks for the assistance!
Nick
Thanks for letting us know it is working now, Nick. I'm glad you have fixed the pairing problem. I hope it is working how you wanted it to.
The update for Airturn (in iReal Pro v8.0.2) provides compatibility with iOS11. The window shows images of their various devices; it seems you can tap on your device and it selects the correct connection method. (Remember to turn on bluetooth and pair your Airturn device first).
(From our initial tests, if your device was already connected and working with iReal Pro before this update, it will (should!) continue to work without having to do anything, although we cannot be sure this will be true for all cases.)

Airturn’s utility app can be used for checking and updating the firmware of PED (not older devices).
Our original PED had v1.1.0 and we have updated it to the current v1.3.0, which seems to have fixed a bug we encountered while testing recently.
I have problems to configure the airturn bt-106. I only can use the left pedal for play and stop, but there is no option for REWIND back to the Top.
Currently In iReal pro, only four functions can be controlled by bluetooth/Airturn.
Page forward
Page back
Player start/pause
Player stop
You will need a controller with 4 buttons/switches/pedals to control all four available functions.
Controllers with only two switches can only control two of the functions which can be selected in the app's settings.
If you set your airturn (Duo) for start/pause and stop, the stop switch would act as a "rewind"/reset switch. Start would then cause the song to load and count-in (again) from the beginning.
You would need to swipe left/right for different charts.
The curser up, down, left, right keys on a paired/connected bluetooth keyboard (^,v,<,>) can work instead of an airturn pedal.when the player is "paused", page turn keys do not work, the player must be "stopped" to change the page.
Remember to turn the AirTurn function OFF when not needed.

I have a bluetooth footswitch (AirTurn) and use it with various apps on my iPad (2). Can I can create a chord progression in iReal Pro that 1) lets me play only the current measure/chord via the footswitch? and 2) the chord sustains (i.e. an organ instrument, I imagine)?
I want to practice out of tempo this way.....have iReal Pro play and possibly sustain the chord and only after I depress the (right) footswitch, does it move to the next measure/chord, which then sustains similarly.
Sorry if this post belongs in the Feature Requested section.
thanks
Short answer: no
See preceding post.

Try this
Slow - Exercise
Long Notes 40bpm Pad 1, Sub Bass, drums-off
:))BOB
This helped. I use my older Airturn now along with BOB's suggestion for a 40bpm tempo (drums off) for controlling the playback/pause of a chord sequence. With an organ patch I get sustained notes that I can then send to my EH Freeze and sustain indefinitely the chord, allowing me to practice chord/scale relationships, out of tempo.
