Thank you, that's useful feedback.
Un further though, my idea wouldn't have worked with how I have things setup anyway.
A measure can be divided in shorter 1,2,3... beat groups relating to each chord so I use these subdivisions in conjunction with N.C. to substitute the chords with silence in bass and harmony parts.
The drums play full measures and know nothing about the chord divisions so I can't easily silence the drums for an unspecified number of beats.
A solution that comes to mind could be to setup a magic keyword like "Break" that can be added in the staff text (Like we do for example with D.C. al Coda) which would mean that the drums stop playing from that measure.
There could be a hit on one as suggested above.
How and when do the drums come back in?
Perhaps at the next double bar line (or repeat bar-line)?
This would cover a lot of Jazz style drum trading situations and simple 1 measure breaks at the end of a section.
I like it!
"Break" would work for readers as well as the iRp player.
Some of us already insert a double-bar to force a cymbal hit which would be ok as the drums return.
And for drum lay-outs across sections simply add another "break".
N.C. would still work as it does currently which is lovely for stop-time and the occasional drum-break.
Thanks for addressing this concern.

Support for drum breaks is now available for testing in the iOS beta on TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/s0ijUrAi
Insert the word “Break” in the staff text and the drums will stop with a shot on one until the next double bar line.
This doesn't affect the bass+piano accompaniment which you can still control with N.C.
Using N.C. and Break you can achieve 4 different combinations:
1 - Accompaniment + Drums
2 - Only Accompaniment
3 - Only Drums
4 - Silence
Coming in the next Mac beta soon and to Android sometime early in the new year.
This feature is now available in the latest beta version or iReal Pro for Android.
It came to Mac and iOS a few months ago. Update to the latest version.
Fantastique. Thank you!
How can I remove it ?
The "Break” command is written in text.
Simply delete the text-word "Break".
In the editor, place the cursor on the appropriate space.
Tap the "abc" key.
Delete the word "Break" from the entry field.
Select "DONE" on the keyboard.
To remove a N.C., place the cursor in the correct space.
Delete N.C. From the chord entry field...or select N.C. again (that toggles the entry in and out)
