My old school floating around anywhere out here?
Do It Again - 2 versions (2)
1. Do It Again orig key - W. Becker-D.Fagen
2. Do It Again in D min - W. Becker-D. Fagen
2nd vers. is in a much easier key for singing, w/ some altered changes. Sort of modeled after the live vers. from Wolf Trap that's on YouTube - that vers. is in the original key, w/ Michael McDonald singing, & the chord changes kinda hint at what I put in. I definitely stole the 13-flat 9 chord they use in the ref.
Sorry, forgot to say - 122/qtr note, either the Latin or Bossa Nova rhythm.
Hi, it's a cool and twisted rock'n roll, Steely Dan version.
Bodhisattva - Becker-Fagen
Josie, please?
I'd like to learn any or all of the below songs featured on Steely Dan's "Citizen":
Do It Again
Only A Fool Would Say That
Fire In The Hole
The Boston Rag
Your Gold Teeth
Night By Night
Barrytown
East St. Louis Toodle Oo
Parker's Band
Pretzel Logic
Monkey In Your Soul
Black Friday
Chain Lightning
Your Gold Teeth II
Throw Back The Little Ones
Kid Charlemagne
The Caves of Altamira
Don't Take Me Alive
Sign In Stranger
Black Cow
Aja
Deacon Blues
Home At Last
I Got The News
Babylon Sisters
Hey Nineteen
Gaucho
Time Out Of Mind
My Rival
Third World Man
Everyone's Gone To The Movies
Any or all of these would be great! Some of these songs feature more keys, guitar, bass and/or horns, along with some varied rhythms. I play guitar and I found on some of the above, guitar is more subtle, but the chords Fagen plays on keys are quite sublime and I'd love to cop a few of them to add to my guitabulary.
Thanks!
Here you go.
Josie - Becker, Fagan
This is a little cramped, but it works and it's right. If anybody is good at editing, and wants to not make the chords bleed over each other, have at it.
Any Major Dude - Becker, Fagan
Thanks! That was actually the first iReal chart I had ever made, so it's kinda my worst so far.
Hear you go. Fixed:
Any Major Dude - Becker, Fagan
OK, once again, my lack of music schooling is apparent. I have all the chords, but I suck at using the codas, etc. Would anybody care to correct the form of this for me, please?
Don't Take Me Alive - Becker, Fagen
Compare this edited chart to yours:
Don't Take Me Alive 1 - Becker, Fagen
All your chords are there. I'm a bit confused by the 9th bar at the end of the C Section.
Whenever possible, I prefer to use a template that has either 4, 4-space measures in a line (system) or 8, 2-space measures in each line. Sometimes to save space, I'll mix them, but for the musician trying to follow the chart on the fly, it's best to keep charts as "square" as possible. I also like to line-up the 1st and 2nd endings directly under each other by inserting blank space.
The player-feature can follow an "ugly" chart and sometimes because of limited space on the single page, you have to compromise.

Here is a description of using a Coda:
Place a coda mark (cross-hairs) on the last beat of the measure just BEFORE you want your ending to start. Place another coda mark on the first beat of your ending measure(s) (at the bottom of the chart) The final time through the form, the player-feature will jump from the first coda mark to the last one, play the ending (coda) and then quit.

Thanks! I'll check it out. It's not so much the coda that's confusing as it is getting the "1" and "2" portions so that it ends differently each time. But I'll read those things. I appreciate your help. I just have good ears for chords. The charting part needs some work!
The repeated section starts with a start-repeat bar sign [: and continues through the 1st ending to the end-repeat bar sign :]which sends it back to the start-repeat to play again. When you get to the 1st ending the second time, you jump to the 2nd ending instead. The section is closed with a double-bar.||

So, I was watching this video of Fagen sitting down, explaining exactly what he's playing on Peg, so I took the liberty of making a couple chordal adjustments to Diatonic's excellent chart. I hope he doesn't mind, and anybody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong ... but I'm pretty sure I'm not. I even stop framed, and looked at what notes he was playing from the overhead view.

Peg v1-1 - Walter Becker Donald Fagen
I don't mind at all. Sometimes it takes a team approach. (May I dare say "It takes a village" for some of these harder tunes)
Agreed! I usually make my best charts in collaboration, when it comes to the more harmonically complicated stuff.
Well I've just written this one ( Pretzel Logic - my first effort) but can't see how to attach it to this post :( ?
Think I might have it cracked now...
Pretzel Logic - Becker-Fagan
I'd like to see a chord transcription of Glamour Profession if anyone has one, thanks!

3. Do It Again - Steely Dan
4. Peg - Steely Dan
5. Minute By Minute RS - Michael McDonald
6. What A Fool Believes RS - Michael McDonald
thanx very much for your work...
Hey, everybody - can't find the collection of Steely Dan songs that were posted on the iReal forum. Finding individual songs, but thought there was a group of them available to download all at once. There might've also been a collection of D. Fagen solo songs. Thx.
Razor Boy - W. Becker and D. Fagen
From their 2nd album, "Countdown To Ecstasy". Jazz Bossa Nova style at 118. Try changing the keyboard sound to vibraphone.
Josie - Steely Dan
More for the Steely Dan collection, from "Gaucho"
Third World Man (1) - Steely Dan
Third World Man (2) - Steely Dan
Babylon Sisters - Becker-Fagen (Steely Dan)
Ruby Baby - Lieber-Stoller (Donald Fagen)
Start getting the recordings and lift the chords. The more you do the better you get at it. It's great ear training which is an invaluable skill for all musicians. Good luck.
