Can you add a key character for band/chord/drum "hits"? You know, where the chord has an "x" symbol to indicate where the kicks are for a drummer etc? this could also include slurs to half notes etc (i.e drummer notation)? We usually see this below the chord notation.
thanks
Barlines inserted at the BEGINNING of a system also make barlines show at the END of preceding system. I have found sometimes editing a chart with right barlines to be confusing in layout, when deleting or inserting measures. I have no problem with using only left barlines, since there really is never a need to insert a single right barline.Quote:

From some posts somewhere else a short while ago (bugs?), someone noticed that barlines inserted at the left or the right of a measure create different behaviors with the player.
They were talking about double-bar lines, but it was a behavior not intended by the developers. I wonder if something analogous could happen by indiscriminately using left or right bar lines...
it'd be great to be able to designate the bass notes as, e.g., /E1 or /E2. And for those who enjoy bass guitar (not me) you might start with /B0 and go up to /E3, which would give 2 full octaves to even the double bass players. That'd be something bassists here would really dig.
I busk along with iReal Pro with saxophone. In the winter the cold flattens my instrument beyond it's ability to tune up by pushing the mouthpiece further on.
I would really appreciate being able to flatten iReal Pro by nearly a half step.
I know I can change the key down a half step but that is too much.
Any hope of this being added by next winter?
There is probably an effects app you can use with the AudioBus app (iReal Pro as Input, pitch shifter as Effects) (iOS only). Or just use a (guitar) pitch shifter (pedal) if you use an amp.

We might take a look at pitch some time in the future but not at the moment.
suggestion for update:
have the verse count larger and/or the final verse blink.
thank you. love the app.

I know it would be artificial, but I think it would enable us to Playback chords and/or bass notes on the "and" beats in what could effectively be 4/4 time. So we could effectively Playback bass 8th notes and the chords on the 8th beats in some of Gershwin's measures. (Of course, if you could find a way to just directly add chords on the 8th beats in 4/4 time, even better.)
This combined with the ability to designate bass notes from /B0 to /E3 (or even higher?), which I already have wished for, would surely be loved by bass players, wouldn't it, Massimo? :-)
Thanks for even considering all these requests we're constantly making.

Ability to enter and Playback m13 chords
This Q could be addressed if we could ..
specify the inversion of a chord.
On the piano playing Eb^ C-7 Ab^ F-7 all in root position outlines a sort of descending melody of D Bb G Eb .
If we could specify inversions we could theoretically have iRealb play heads :o
The first line here demonstrates how the descending chords i'm going for are muddled in inversions;)
Test moving bass stagnant chord vice versa - Harold Arlen
This is my first post, so maybe this has already been discussed. Is there a way to change styles in the middle of a tune? Like "Latin" for 8 bars then "Swing" for 8 bars then back to "Latin?" If not, that would be a great feature. Thanks.
Is there a good way to request specific styles? I'm thinking some of the lesser known Brazilian styles like:
Maxixe
Tango Brasileiro
Choro-lento
Forro
and a reversed samba pattern (samba is a two measure pattern - first measure starting on the downbeat - second on the anticipated upbeat. In Pagode it is common to flip the order so that the first measure is an anticipated upbeat - the second starting on the downbeat).
A very good reference for guitar players is in Billy Newman's Guitar Atlas book Brazil.
Being able to enter your own voicings, which could then be both heard and seen on the diagram charts (piano and guitar). That would be KILLING! (also: puting back the anticipation feature!)
Since I've already requested the ability to enter and Playback specific bass notes with and without cords from /B0 to /E3 (or even higher), I should also request the ability to enter /0, or some such, for no bass note with the chord at all.
Don't want much, do I. 😌
Hello all,
I apologize if this has been covered previously, but I didn't see it when I searched.
Is it possible to use an Airturn controller to signify an end of repeats? When using iRealB for drums with other live players trading choruses, it's a little hard to keep track of where we are at in the number of repeats. It would be nice to click a foot controller to signify "ok, this is the last chorus, we'll go to the coda" when we feel ready.
Thx in advance,
Jim
As far as I know, page forward/back and player start/stop are the only available functions.
If you write out the repeating section again for the last repeat after the bracketed section, you'll know when the final repeat is happening because the playback position indicator will move on instead of continuing to cycle within the brackets.
Example: you want a 4 bar section to repeat 8x. Bracket that section, repeat 7x, copy and paste the section again for the 8th repeat.
If you are using player repeats, you need to keep your eye on the countdown at the top of the chart to know when it's the FINAL time...
:))BOB
Thank you Bob. Yes that does help I agree. I guess what I was hoping for was an undefined number of repeats (for solos) and then when the group is ready to end it, tap the foot controller, and go to the Coda or last chorus to replay the head.
Perhaps a future feature?
Thanks again,
Jim
For many (many) years I used an Ensoniq EPS sequencer for backing tracks. Just as you describe, it could loop the song until I decided to manually advance to the coda. This was, and still is actually, the hardest thing about adapting performances to iRP. Yes, it does take some pre-planning to accommodate the personnel on a particular gig. And it's definitely a distraction to keep track of how many repeats are remaining, and hope you guessed correctly. The advantages of using iRP are many (ease of composition, changing styles and tempos, sharing files, etc.) and I would never go back to using a sequencer. But I do still miss controlling repeats on the fly - especially when some couple decides to get up and dance 15 seconds before the song is pre-set to end.
;)
I read in another thread that an update for iRP would be released soon. I don't want to be a nuisance, but I would like to see a new combination style Rhumba/Swing, similar to the existing Latin/Swing style. I've made this request in the past, and I hope the development team will give it serious consideration. Ditto for an Acoustic Bossa/Swing style.
I'd still like to see some type of folder system for managing playlists, as well as a way to indicate for each song which playlists the song is in, but I realize that these items would be more difficult to implement. All of us await an update with new goodies.
Hi Keith
I might be helpful to give an example of what you mean.
Perhaps an iconic song?
For instance Poinciana has an iconic grove that would be nice to have in the groove toolbox.
It may already be there?

Bobsax: A tune like "If Ever I Would Leave You" would work well with a Rhumba/Swing style; "My Reverie," Invitation," "All Or Nothing At All," "Flamingo" would do as well. I'd prefer something a bit smoother and without the prominent cymbals that are present in the Latin part of the Latin/Swing style for these tunes (although the Latin/Swing style works great with "On Green Dolphin Street" and "Speak Low"). I would like to be able to play "The Girl From Ipanema" and "Beautiful Love" with an Acoustic Bossa/Swing style.
The Ahmad Jamal version of "Poinciana" is not my idea of a Rhumba, although I do like the performance (treat yourself to another Jamal jem: "Stolen Moments" as a piano trio https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HClD5wy7K5s). I'd be happy with the Bolero style to be mated with the Swing style for the combination style I'm requesting, and continue to hope we'll get someday.
Start the selected section from the beginning again.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE iReal Pro by the way!!
One small thing though. I am practising say the "A" section only, so I mark that section (say 16 bars) and I can then repeat that section over again. But after a couple of bars I make a mistake (I'm learning so it happens often ;-) ). Now I can pause the play and start again, but if I want to start from the beginning of the selected section I have to either wait for the tune to get back to the beginning or stop and then re-select the "A" section. Wouldn't it be great if once you pause a selected passage the current bar was highlighted with symbols for "continue" or "start from beginning of selection".
Just an idea. :-)
Thanks all for a great application !!!
Ciao Massimo.
The issue you describe is not present on my iPad mini in either orientation.
If I understand your concern, you are unable to see the repeat count-down on your iPhone in landscape orientation.
In portrait orientation, the count-down is displayed? (After the first cycle)
:))BOB
You're right Beans1900 , after pause it starts up where you left it and in loop mode the only way to get back to the top is to ;
1) wait for it to go around the loop or
2) press stop which erases the loop and you have to enter the loop again.
A couple things;
I have a loop on my transcribing app (gAssistant) that alway goes to the beginning of the loop when you press the space bar.
I'm not sure that would be popular here?
I'd say that you should set the loop at a bar before the place you made a mistake and one bar after it and just play it till you have it down perfect .
One of the great things about IrealPro is how quickly you can set up your loops.
I'm a teacher and I used to use Smart Music but it was really slow to reset a song and the loop process is very time consuming.
IrealPro is great because it's fast to set up and get playing.
Here's what I have my students do when learning a song ;
If it's an AABA tune with 8 bars in each section.
1)Loop the first 4bars and practice the head , scales or whatever?
2) do the same thing with bars 5-8
3) then put all 8 bars together and loop
4) Do steps 1,2 and 3 with the bridge
5) do the whole song
good luck
Bob, I think what Kalokagathon may be pointing out is that in landscape mode the repeat countdown indicator does not show when you're in Playback at the bottom of the chart, which is exactly when you need it most. It does not travel downward with the scroll.
Aother problem I've noticed with landscape mode during Playback is that it does not scroll properly when the chart is more than eight lines long. After that it becomes increasingly difficult to read because the scroll lags behind and eventually your place in the tune is off the bottom; you can't read anything on charts that are 12 or 13 lines long. The problem becomes worse earlier if you have used one or more down-space arrows in the chart.
Jack
Thanks for the clarification.
:))BOB
Exactly!
I took screenshots, but can't upload them - I'll send them to Massimo via mail.
I don't see that problem so much. I tried playing in landscape, and the chart scrolled as it should.Quote:

Well, to be more specific, below is a test tune with 12 lines. On my iPhone 5C, with the latest OS 8.2 and the latest iRP 6.0.1:
Note that:
During Playback in Landscape:
•While lines 6 and higher are playing, the lyrics on the next line are not readable.
•While lines 7 and higher are playing, the chord qualities on the next line are not readable.
• While lines 10 and higher are playing, the lyrics on the line being played are not readable.
• While line 12 is playing, the chord qualities on the line being played are not readable.
•If there are any down-space arrows in the chart, it's worse.
•If there are 13 lines in the chart, it's worse yet.
I hope it's just a matter of adjusting the scroll. This problem has been known since at least 2014-10-28, and Niki mentioned that it would be fixed, so perhaps it's been fixed already in the next update.
Scroll Test: 12 lines, no drop downs or 13th line - Irving Berlin 1911
Grazie del suggerimento. Aggiungerò alla mia lista.
Yahoo! Thanks, Niki. You and your team are the best!
The only problem I really have with iRP anymore is . . . I've now forgotten how to use Finale.
And whoever your Scrollmaster is, please give Her/Him a GIANT thank you from me.
