New Orleans & Trad Jazz ? (moved)
Hi,
I was wondering,... is there a thread for New Orleans or other Pre-Swing era styles of Jazz?? that would be wonderful and I would contribute lots of tunes if there was...
Would someone else be interested in these charts? I know that many songs have already been posted in other styles like Gypsy or Classic Standards, but there are so many more that haven't...

Trad Jazz
UPDATE
Check out the main Trad playlists here:
http://www.irealb.com/forums/showthr...Trad-Playlists
Sometimes it's hard to classify the tunes by type.
There's so much crossover.
Tune "X" was written as a show tune, now it's a jazz standard. A "good" tune is one that works in any style, it's got "legs" and stands on it's own.
That said, a "Trad Jazz" section for early tunes is a great idea.
I went ahead and uploaded "Gypsy Jazz" playlists containing tunes that could easily (and properly) be classified elsewhere because they work in the acoustic-swing style and it saved me lots of additional posting.

I'd be glad to set a new sticky thread called "trad jazz" tunes in it.
Do we have some songs already?
-
Well, there are some songs already classified in other styles the perfecly fit into this one,... but I don't know the policy about repeating song in different playlists, ... the word playlist suggests that there is no problem as long as it does not create a second copy on the ipod.
Also, simpler harmonizations are usually played on Trad jazz isn't it? so repeating songs by simplifying them would thst be a problem?
finally, I recently came across a dedicated fake book on trad jazz, and I'd be glad to upload songs to this section on my free time

Yes, repeating songs it's not really a problem if we are classifying them as belonging to a particular style/list, specially if they are simplified or changed in any way to fit the style.
