Polish Jazz songs
Hi All,
Let's post Polish Jazz songs here. For those who are not familiar with jazz from Poland: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIV...3aJDuG-ydlPIMQ.
Fun fact: after WWII, during communism, Poland was pretty closed to West, thus to jazz. However, some of the jazz sneaked through the iron curtain and have mixed with more popular music genres. This caused a somewhat different evolution of jazz in Poland. Especially in Gdańsk in the North of Poland, located by the Baltic Sea, jazz became a mixture of punk, rock and a tiny bit of 251 progressions. It was called the YASS. The classic representative of Yass were bands like Miłość, Tymański Yass Ensemble.
Some Polish Jazz representatives:
Leszek Możdżer - piano
Krzysztof Komeda - piano
Tomasz Stańko - trumpet
Adam Makowicz - piano
Włodzimierz Nahorny - piano, sax
Zbigniew Namysłowski - sax
Zbigniew Seifert - violin
Michał Urbaniak - violin
Urszula Dudziak - vocal
Best,
Marcin
